Christ the King Preschool strives to accommodate children with varying abilities, but whose potential achievement is not incapacitated by special learning disabilities, emotional disturbances, hyper-activity, behavior problems or severe orthopedic, visual or hearing disabilities. The school is limited in professional staffing prepared to give special assistance to children with the described conditions.
Presence of the described conditions does not necessarily preclude admission. Rather, the Preschool Board must determine if staffing is available to meet the child’s needs. Please indicate any special conditions on the registration form.
Older Twos Curriculum
The Two-Year-Old curriculum includes various themes per month including art, skills, music, religious and literature. The class attends weekly chapel services once they are settled and able to sit in calmly in the sanctuary.
Older Threes and Three Curriculum
The Young Three class allows older two-year-olds to bridge the two and three-year-old objectives. This class completes two-year-old material and then moves into the three-year-old curriculum. The teacher selects objectives from the three-year-old curriculum based on her knowledge of the children in the class.
The Three-Year-Old curriculum consists of weekly themes. The teacher plans appropriate activities in art, music, literature, skills and movement, as well as simple Bible stories.
Young Four and Four Curriculum
The Young Four-Year-Old class allows older three-year-olds to bridge the three and four-year-old curriculum. This class completes three-year-old objectives and then moves into the four-year-old curriculum. The teacher selects objectives from the four-year-old curriculum based on her knowledge of the children in the class. The class will work on beginning letter recognition and numbers 0-10, as well as other four-year-old objectives.
The Four-Year-Old Pre-Kindergarten curriculum consists of weekly themes supported by activities in art, literature, math, music and movement. Each week, one or more letters of the alphabet are studied. The teacher is responsible for including Bible stories and messages about God in the daily life of the class.
Kindergarten Readiness
The Kindergarten Readiness class is designed to support a child who has completed a Four-Year-Old class or is age appropriate and not yet ready for Kindergarten. Areas covered include pre-math, language skills, physical fitness, science, creative expression, social development, safety, geography, multi-cultural studies, history and the environment.
